Sri Raja Shyamala Devi

Shyamala Devi is the minister of Lalita Devi. She emerged from Lalita Devi’s intellect and stands to her right, holding a parrot and a veena. Shyamala Devi is the embodiment of the Goddess’s power of knowledge.

Lalita Devi took two chakras from the Sri Chakra and gave one to Shyamala Devi and the other to Varahi Devi. The chakra given to Shyamala Devi is called the *Geya Chakra*. Lalita Devi adorned Shyamala Devi with her ring and declared her the minister of her kingdom. She is worshipped here as the minister and, among the Dasha Mahavidyas, as the ninth Mahavidya—Matangi Mahavidya.

The Geya Chakra has seven enclosures. Along with her enclosure deities, Shyamala Devi constantly governs and protects us.
